This role sits within Laurentian Bank.
- Support Capital Markets business leaders by preparing, analyzing, and reporting monthly P&L results. Provide timely and relevant insights to help business partners and senior management understand financial performance.
- Develop strong understanding of the businesses and its key drivers. Prepare financial analyses and reports with actionable insights tailored for senior management and business partners.
- Assist in the monthly rolling forecast and the annual financial planning cycle. Support the development of key assumptions to drive high-quality forecasts and contribute to the preparation of the annual budget. Identify opportunities and make recommendations to improve forecasting models and work processes.
- Lead discussions on financial results, forecasts, and budgets with business leaders. Build strong partnerships by going beyond the numbers – understanding the business context, identifying financial challenges, and supporting efforts to achieve financial targets.
- Enhance and document the month-end and quarter-end process by automating manual tasks. Improve the forecasting and budgeting process by optimizing templates and automating the generation and validation of system input and output files.
- Partner with the Accounting and Regulatory Reporting team to ensure accurate and timely data are recorded and presented.
- Deliver accurate and insightful ad hoc financial analyses and reports to influence decision-making.
- University education with a bachelor's degree in Finance, accounting, or related field
- 5-7 years of working experience in banking industry as financial analyst or similar role
- Professional certification an asset (CPA, CFA, FRM)
- Proficiency in the Office suite (especially Excel, Macros, VBA, and PowerPoint).
- Proficiency in the Oracle Essbase application an asset.
- Working knowledge of financial markets products and activities
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Dynamic and results-oriented, able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Shows Autonomy, Initiative, Teamwork and Responsiveness
- Bilingual* (French, English) an asset
