This role sits within Laurentian Bank.

Assist the Senior Account Managers (SAM) and the Assistant Vice President (AVP) to develop and maintain a profitable commercial real estate loan portfolio through service to developers, investors, and users of commercial real estate.

Sector: Real Estate


  • Underwrites new loan applications for the AM and SAM.  Reviews new loan applications to establish their acceptability as investments for the Bank. Negotiates loan terms and conditions with the client that meets the Bank’s policies and guidelines;  
  • Gathers relevant information in preparation for a comprehensive loan submission for presentation and approval:
  • Upon approval of the loan facility by the Bank, prepares a commitment letter for acceptance by the client, ensuring that all funding conditions are met. 
  • Authorizes the advance of funds by the loan administrator to ensure conformity with the credit authorization;
  • Reviews loans approaching maturity to evaluate whether or not they continue to represent acceptable investments for the Bank, prepares the renewal application and submits for approval. Negotiates repayment or revised terms and conditions for those loans deemed unacceptable;   
  • Prepares reviews of existing loans to ensure the continuing security and profitability of the portfolio and submit for authorization;
  • Inspects the real estate securing the loans, both existing and under construction, to ascertain the quality of the security;
  • Ensures that assigned loan accounts operate as authorized and takes whatever action is necessary to correct delinquencies, or in the case of non-performing loans to assist, when necessary, the Special Loans Team to enforce the security documentation ensuring the repayment of the loan;
  • Deals with client inquiries, changes to loan terms and conditions, and other account management situations that are beyond the authority of operation;
  • Assists with the legal, documentation and prefunding provisions;
  • Reviews cost consultant reports and prepares funding requests;
  • Reviews appraisals and environmental reports to ensure loan complies with all approval conditions;
  • Completes lease review, including rent roll / estoppel.


  • University degree preferably in Finance, Business Administration, B Commerce in Commercial Real Estate


  • Five(5) years experience in a related commercial real estate financing or equivalent with an established financial institution
  • Able to write clear and logical loan submissions;
  • Perform market analysis and other relevant due diligence;
  • Working knowledge of real estate appraisal techniques and financial statement analysis;
  • Experienced in lease review;  
  • Working knowledge of loan closing documentation, experience & knowledge of construction loans and draw process are a must
  • Strong communication skills required to follow and negotiate complex transactions;
  • Good interpersonal skills and organizational skills;
  • Working knowledge of Windows based PC word processing and Excel spreadsheet analysis.
